Cannon Ball!

This is my first entry to GottaDrawEmAll's Natural Habitat Contest.

My subject is a Magmar mother bathing herself in a lava pool while her offspring is having some fun. What can I say about this piece? Painting it was a really enjoyable experience. I've tried a new technique for blending colours that I think worked pretty well with this environment. It was a challenge to get the lighting straight since there are three light sources of varying intensities.
